At its meeting of 10 October the Standards of Conduct Committee (the Committee) considered a report from the Commissioner for Standards relating to misuse of Senedd resources by a Member of the Senedd. In correspondence with the Commissioner, the Member concerned highlighted that it may have been useful to have received training around the requirements on Members during a local election period.

The Committee noted that Members receive a range of training at the start of the Senedd, including on the Code of Conduct. However it considered that an increase in training, or greater promotion of the training available, throughout the course of the Senedd would be beneficial. In particular, it would be useful to reinforce Members’ responsibilities prior to a local election period.
